Sierra Nevada: The John Muir Trail by Ansel Adams

In a special arrangement with Little, Brown and Company, Arion Press has produced a new deluxe edition of a landmark book in photography, the 1938 limited edition of Ansel Adams’ Sierra Nevada: The John Muir Trail. The original was recognized as the highest quality photography book at the time. Representing the finest selection of Adams’ photographs of the High Sierra, the new edition is limited to 500 copies, numbered and signed by The Ansel Adams Trust.

Newly designed by Andrew Hoyem, the book is hand set and printed by letterpress on English mouldmade paper. Fifty photographic plates were printed by Meridian Printing and individually tipped in by hand. The images have been printed on a light, silk finish paper using a stochastic printing process, which means there is no printing grain or dot structure, giving each print a continuous tone. The exceptionally large volume (12-1/2 by 16-1/2 inches) is beautifully bound in linen with a matching slipcase.
