“Biotherm” is Frank O'Hara’s last long poem, immortalized here in a true livre d’artiste. Jim Dine's prints pay a vibrant homage to the poet, whom he knew and admired. Dine drew images over proofs of the poetry, intermingling text and art; full-page drawings alternate with pages of poetry.

The poet and critic Bill Berkson, to whom the poem is addressed, compiled a glossary to explicate the references in the poem, and an essay that recounts the circumstances of its writing.
